About

Known by many names. Aleksander Morozova's one true purpose is in doing what is right for Ravka, what is right for his people. The Grisha have been persecuted, hunted down, tortured, and experimented on. They've been treated with fear for what they could do, utilizing small science to manipulate matter around them. He has seen and experienced the worse of this throughout his life. He vowed when he was still young and nearly killed for his bones by a fellow Grisha that he would find a way to save them all. It's been his life's work ever since, forgoing the safety of hiding, rejecting the offer of riches in favor of a safe place for his people in the Little Palace.

The problem is his methods. There is nothing he will not do to fulfill this purpose- no one he will not kill, no one he will not hurt so he can guarantee safety for Grisha. The Fold itself created centuries ago will wield to his power as a weapon of mass destruction against their enemies if only it means no one will harm another Grisha again. ...and it doesn't matter if he has to hurt Grisha in the process to make it happen for the good of all.

first impressions Aleksander is the only Grisha in the Second Army who can wear black. It signals to all what he is: a shadow summoner, the Darkling. He wears keftas, which is a signal to all within his world that someone is Grisha due to its use within the Second Army itself. All soldiers wear their correct colors to signal what they are and what they can do.

Aleksander is tall with a commanding presence that often has people parting the way for him when he walks through. He demands attention and respect merely with a look alone. Those who are magically inclined/powered may sense something that draws them to him simply due to the nature of how he can amplify your abilities.

features Aleksander wears nice clothing often with a cloak at his back because he's dramatic like that. His gaze is discerning. He walks with presence to his steps, demanding attention without having to say a word. His voice too commands attention, draws people to him. With a look alone, he can command those who follow him. They understand what he means and move to follow an unspoken order.

Powers

shadow summoner

a rare and powerful summoner within his world (only his mother is also capable of it). In fact, he is the most powerful Grisha in his world. He has the power to manipulate and move shadows, which results in a range of abilities including but not limited to bringing darkness into a room or area of any size, using shadows to choke someone, turning shadows into blades that can decapitate or cut someone or something to pieces, blinding others with darkness, and likely more. Basically anything that can come from manipulating darkness and shadows. .

He's also capable of using merzost (magic which is seen as an abomination and takes/drains from the one who uses it) to create a Fold. The Fold is "The Shadow Fold was a section of nearly impenetrable darkness that grew every year and contained volcra among other unnamed horrors." (quoted from the wiki linked above). It separated one half of the country from the other. He can also create shadow beings to fight for him through this, and in addition, he is incredibly difficult to kill.

living amplifier

Aleksander can amplify the abilities of others. This means when he touches others he can sense their abilities/power/magic, but he also strengthens them to a ridiculous degree. The other person would be able to tell he is an amplifier as soon as he touched them as they would feel their magic/powers/supernatural abilities surge to life at his mere touch.

abilities permission + villainry

Amplifier: Kirigan can amplify the powers/magic/abilities of another person to a ridiculously intense degree. Obviously, in his world, being a living amplifier works for Grisha's powers, but I am open to it having a similar effect on other people's abilities. It works as soon as he touches someone or they touch him. This amplification can also make people feel ~drawn~ to him if they do have powers/abilities even without having to touch him. When he touches someone where this does work with, they will be able to feel an incredible surge in their powers- he has no control over turning this on or off, it's just what he is. You're free to have your character realize that he is making their power/magic/ability stronger as well. However, you can also just have it not work for your characters' powers/abilities if you'd prefer not to. :)

He is also a shadow summoner, but that ability involves manipulating shadows in all kinds of fun ways.

Perceptive: I take his background from the prequel in the books since they mentioned wanting to have filmed that for season 1 so we know they take that into consideration for movie him. As such, he has been trained since he was a literal child in how to be incredibly perceptive about other people, their motives, their tells, and also to be incredibly perceptive about a situation/strategic about it. For instance, he is able to tell what huts signify someone having greater status, if an injury is new/old based on the wear on clothing, if someone is lying based on other people and the sound of someone's voice. This is all when he was thirteen so he's much more perceptive now. However, this is RP, and I do not want to be godmode-y so if he ever narrates/perceives something that you'd prefer him not to then please let me know. I will always try to write in the reasons why he perceives what he does, and I will base that on like actual body language that has been in the narration or dialogue that is said out loud.

Villain-y

The Darkling is the antagonist of his canon. However, he is a bad guy who has very specific motives. This means he doesn't really kill/harm people without reason. He has a goal, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal regardless of who it may hurt, regardless of the collateral damage it may create. He cares very deeply about Grisha and about creating safety for them in a world that has always hunted, experimented on, killed, and persecuted them. Think Magneto, but fantasy style.

With most characters, he is likely to lie at least somewhat about himself at some point- mostly in telling half-truths or withholding the whole truth while also being capable of genuine emotion and actual truth. He can also be manipulative at times if he has need to be.

On that note, he will be focused on finding a way to return home in Hell so that will be his main goal currently. He will be searching for any way to do so, looking for allies and people who will follow his instructions cause he's a Leader tm.

Note I would prefer not to do threads where characters who have no reason to believe he is a bad guy come at him aggressively/assuming he has bad intentions for no reason. He does not come off like a bad guy at all- he is well spoken and polite and often genuine in his responses to others. Other than wearing black, he doesn't give that vibe unless your character is psychic/can see auras which then absolutely lets talk. Same with any other assumption about what the CR will be based on the meta knowledge that he's not a good guy.
